The Design, Visualization, & Cognition (DVC) Lab is the research lab of Dr. Paul Parsons in the Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University. The DVC Lab conducts research in the area of human-computer interaction (HCI), with an emphasis on cognitive aspects of designing and using of visualization interfaces.

The DVC Lab collaborates with other researchers in the Polytechnic Institute, especially Dr. Colin Gray and the UXp2 lab, Dr. Austin Toombs and the C-CI Lab, Dr. Vetria Byrd and the Byrd Vis Lab, and Prof. Nancy Rasche. We also collaborate with research groups internationally, including Dr. Kamran Sedig and the Insight Lab at the University of Western Ontario and Hai-Ning Liang’s lab at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou.
Research in the DVC Lab is funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and Purdue University.

- DVC offers an Associate of Science degree and a Certificate of Achievement in Industrial Design. Graduates of the program can be employed in product design, package design, soft goods design, transportation design, manufacturing, engineering, research and development, rapid prototyping and fabrication, set and exhibit design, and 3D CAD modeling.
